RI Energy is in the process of replacing the wood poles on the transmission lines from the Swansea border to Bristol. Some sections of trail at Haile Farm Preserve will be closed from late June 2026 through early 2027 for the safety of our visitors.
We will post signs at the points where trails are closed, and the crews will also have signs warning people to stay out of the work areas. The portion of the Dick Hallberg Trail (Green Trail), the Blue Trail, Orange trail and Yellow Trail that cross the edge of the salt marsh and which pass under the transmission lines will be closed.
The RI Energy transmission lines cross Haile Farm Preserve, Sowams Meadow Preserve and our newest Wakem Property. To access the poles at Haile Farm Preserve, the contractors are laying down large timber mats to create temporary roadways for trucks, construction equipment and the equipment needed to re-hang the transmission lines on the new metal poles.
This is a dynamic project, and we will continue to post updates should anything change.
We apologize for the disruption to your enjoyment of the Preserve and thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe distance from the work areas.
