The Bylaws of the Warren Land Conservation Trust call for an Annual Meeting of its members, who elect new board members and officers, and conduct other “business” such as reviewing the finances of the Trust and voting on changes to the bylaws, if proposed. Details on matters to be voted on are distributed to members ahead of time. Annual meetings also provide updates on accomplishments, and a preview of plans and priorities for the new year. Publicity regarding the Annual Meeting is done around town, in the Warren Times-Gazette and through social media including our FaceBook page.
The Board has scheduled the next Annual Meeting for January 11, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Because of Covid 19 related circumstances, the decision was made recently that we should not have the meeting in person. Instead, the meeting will once again be held on-line, still open to members and friends. A link for the Zoom meeting will be forwarded to members. Non-members who would like to attend may email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an invitation and link.
We are honored to have as our keynote speaker the new Executive Director of the Rhode Island Land Trust Council (RILTC), Kate Sayles. Kate was selected to lead RILTC in July 2021 after over 10 years as the Forestry and Agriculture Program Manager for the non-profit Northern RI Conservation District. She also worked for the RI Tree Council and USDA after receiving her BS degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from URI. Kate will be speaking on the theme “New Year, New Directions,” and will be discussing the RILTC’s strategic vision for the future.
In addition to Kate’s talk, we will be holding a brief business meeting, which will include election of Board members and officers, a vote on several proposed amendments to the bylaws, and presentation of the annual Distinguished Service Award.
We hope that many members and friends of the Trust will join us in welcoming the new members of our leadership team as well as our new partner at the RILTC. Looking forward to seeing you on January 11th!
